CANADIAN DOLLAR STRENGTHENS, BENCHMARK YIELD SLIPS

The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Friday, and the yield on benchmark government debt slipped. 

The loonie was trading 0.4% higher at C$1.4323 to the greenback, or 69.82 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.4316 to 1.4383.

Canadian government 10-year bond yields fell 0.2 basis points to 3.322%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt rose to 4.6398%.

U.S. March crude futures rose 14 cents to $74.76 a barrel on Friday.
